2008 Kern Valley Vulture Watch

Turkey Vultures have started to migrate from their breeding grounds. Have you seen any in the KERN RIVER VALLEY?
Where, When, and How Many?
Did they just fly through?
Did they spend the night?
What type of habitat did they stay in?

Hello,
Tonight we observed more than 75 turkey vultures overhead in Fresno.
We live in Northeast Fresno in the Woodward Lake development. We are across the street from the San Joaquin River near Woodward Park.

Approximately 1/2 the flock, maybe 30 to 40 birds soared close to our yard and at least 15 landed in our mature cedar trees.
This was quite a sight. Neighbors conjectured they were migrating.
I have to say this was a spectacular sighting.
My 15 year old was taken a bit back by the spectacle.
